AIA Life Cover

Life Cover is designed to enable you to look after those who financially depend on you, following your death. It can also be used to help tidy up financial commitments.

What do you get?

Life Cover can provide a lump sum payment, regular monthly payments or a combination of both. Additionally, if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness you can elect to have your benefit paid prior to your death. You then have the option of using the money to ensure quality time with your family before you die.

Funeral benefit

A funeral benefit is an accelerated payment of $12,500 payable upon your death.

Accidental death benefit

When applying for Life Cover you will automatically be entitled to accidental death cover between the date of AIA New Zealand receiving your application for Life Cover and the date of our decision whether or not to accept your application. Special conditions apply.

Future insurability option

With Life Cover you also have the option to increase the sum assured by 20% every two years, for a maximum of five times, over the first 10 years of your policy without further medical evidence. Special conditions apply.

Special Events Increase Option

You may be able to increase your cover without any additional medical underwriting if one of these special events occurs before you turn 69:

                        Marriage or civil union.

                        Divorce or legal separation.

                        Death of a spouse or partner.

                        Birth or adoption of a child.

                        Salary increase or a career change.

                        Taking full-time care of a dependant.

                        Secondary education of a child.

                        Tertiary education of a child

                        Taking out or increasing a mortgage on your own home.

                        Purchase of a residential investment property.

Get the quality health treatment you need, when you need it. We offer a choice of two policies which provide cover for surgical and non-surgical private hospital care.
REAL Health is designed to assist with you meeting the financial costs associated with certain health services.

What are the benefits of REAL Health Cover?

Surgery in a private hospital

REAL Health can provide reimbursement for some or all costs in respect of surgery in a private hospital in New Zealand. These may include surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, theatre fees, post-operative and ancillary charges, high dependency unit charges, nursing fees, prostheses, hospital accommodation, diagnostic procedures and specialist consultations. Referral from a specialist is required.

Treatment in a private hospital

REAL Health can provide reimbursement for some or all costs in respect of private hospital treatment that doesn’t require surgery. These may include charges for chemotherapy and radiotherapy, prescription drugs listed on the PHARMAC schedule (and if not listed, in some cases), cardiologist fees and angiography, hospital accommodation, diagnostic procedures and specialist consultations. Referral from a specialist is required.

Other benefits

REAL Health also includes many other benefits: specialist minor surgery, complications of pregnancy and childbirth, medical misadventure benefit, funeral benefit ($3,500), public hospital cash benefit, hospice cover, home nursing and an overseas treatment grant.
